Celebrating George Nakashima in Scottsdale.

On February 23, the Scottsdale Studio will launch a rare opportunity to explore the life and work of George Nakashima. An MIT-trained architect, Nakashima found his inspiration through woodworking and cabinetry. From February 23 through March 17, DWR Scottsdale will display an exhibit, Nature, Form and Spirit, of original furniture from Nakashima’s home, rare prototypes and one-of-a-kind pieces.

His daughter Mira Nakashima-Yarnall, a designer and writer in her own right, will join us for events throughout the month. Also on display will be the Shoki Collection, a new furniture line created by Nakashima-Yarnall from her father’s early notebook drawings (which includes the dressing table pictured above). Upcoming events include a book signing and presentation from Nakashima-Yarnall, a home tour and a display of works by the Arizona Association of Fine Woodworkers.
