DWR’s new Studio is open in Nashville with sofas, lounge chairs, dining tables, task chairs, rugs and lighting, all arranged in 25 room settings styled with colorful accent walls, artwork, dramatic photos and accessories to help customers envision how modern design could blend into their own homes.
“We hope customers will ‘see themselves’ within one narrative or another, and that the experience taps into an emotional element in the furniture designs,” says Alain Capretz, director of Studio design.
The Studio is in the Gulch, a former warehouse district and rail yard that has transformed into a vibrant neighborhood of shops, restaurants, nightspots, residences and hotels. It is DWR’s first retail space in Nashville.
Being new to Nashville, Capretz says, “we wanted the experience of entering the Studio for the first time to evoke the optimism and dynamism at the heart of DWR,” Capretz says. The space aims to make a connection with visitors on a personal level.
“It’s the story of DWR, but it’s also the story of a young urban couple, say, with a passion for design and a healthy lack of reverence for design ‘rules’.”
As with all DWR Studios, a staff of account executives provide a wealth of complimentary design services, including decorating advice, in-home visits to measure and plan and even 3D renderings to provide a glimpse of how furnishings may look when everything is put together.
“We’re thrilled to be in Nashville,” says John Edelman, DWR CEO. “It’s such a vibrant city, and we can’t wait to share our passion for modern design with customers experiencing us for the first time as well as the local design community.”
DWR Nashville is at 303 11th Ave. S., in a vibrant area of downtown called the Gulch. 615.252.8870. Hours are 10am–6pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm–5pm Sunday.
