Stampede for Eames.
The stamps are here! Today is Charles Eames’ birthday (he would have been 101), which is why the Postal Service chose June 17, 2008 to release 16 42-cent stamps honoring Charles and Ray Eames. The stamps include images of the husband-and-wife team and their furniture, as well as their textiles, House of Cards and images from their films. Order your stamps from the Postal Service.

I was fortunate to attend the first day of issue celebration at the Eames Office in Santa Monica today. What a wonderful tribute to a great design team. What great looking stamps!
The entire Eames family was there---from Charles's only child (Lucia) to her children and his grandchildren: Byron, Carla, Lisa, Lucia and Eames. Also many of the great grand kids were there too---Gunther and Zander to name a few
The Eames family (those living) are very special and selfless. Making Ray and Charles's famed home and work a national treasure and available to all versus selling out (i.e the land on which the house sits) and making gads of money
What a fitting tribute to honor the Eames on a series of postal stamps. But the stamps and support the Eamesfoundation.org

I would have thought that he would have been older than 101, so that was surprising. But very nice stamps. I look forward to having a bunch on hand.

As they say, THANKS FOR SHARING. Will order immediately... though with on-line bill pay, I hardly use stamps anymore!
