111 Navy Launch Party in NYC.
The 111 Navy Chair® made its debut at our West 14th Street Studio last night. The chair was very well received by our guests who sipped cocktails from Bacardi and Coke and debated about which color chair was their favorite. The blog sub-studio liked red and green the best. Find a launch party near you or check out pictures from the NYC Launch.

I have always loved the Navy Chair and have been patiently waiting for a less expensive version that I could afford. I had high hopes for this one only to have them dashed once again by the price. Perhaps someone can explain to me why a chair that is made out of what is essentially garbage costs over $200.00.

Dear Karen, Thank you for your comment. We reached out to our partners at Emeco in order to provide the best answer to your question, and here is their reply:
Recycled PET costs more than virgin plastic, and the new 111 Navy Chair weighs twice as much as the classic Aluminum chair at 13 lbs. (and costs about half as much). This is a commercial grade chair that takes three times longer to make than a standard plastic chair and has a warranty five times longer with an estimated life span of more than 30 years.
