100% off the grid, repurposed container home in Joshua Tree.

JoshuaTreeHouse
An alternative to prefab, EcoTechBuild has just completed its prototype hybrid house -- the first of its kind to be permitted and built in California's Mohave Desert. It is constructed from 20'-long recycled cargo containers that were fabricated and finished in Los Angeles and then shipped to the site where they were erected and stacked two high in 15 minutes each. What do you think about it? Would you want to live there?

I'm not sure about building anything in the Mojave Desert when we've already encroached on wildlife habitat enough but, the idea of the structure itself is cool.

I think I'd want to see more windows on it and some images of the interior before I commit to saying I'd live in one :)

Thanks for sharing it.

The building is very cool, but the location completely blows.

There's no way to get to or from your house except hopping into an automobile.

Desert sprawl is a very, very bad idea.
