We’re happy to announce the winner of the Nordic Design Tour Sweepstakes. Linda Glazier and her very lucky guest will fly SAS Airlines to Denmark during Copenhagen Design Week and spend five nights at the stylish Avenue Hotel, courtesy of Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Collection, where they will be treated to breakfast each day and receive two VIP Copenhagen city cards for free entry to more than 60 museums and attractions, free transportation, and discounts on shopping and restaurants. Additionally, they’ll enjoy factory tours of Denmark-based design companies.

We followed up with Linda, a Kansas City-based architect, to see how she reacted to the good news.

DWR: Linda, congratulations! How does it feel to be the winner of the Nordic Design Tour Sweepstakes?

Linda Glazier: When I first heard, I was ecstatic. Now that the idea has set in – that we truly are going to Denmark – I’m simply overjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DWR: That’s a lot of exclamation points! Have you ever won anything before?

LG: Yes. I work in the design industry, so often there are giveaway contests. I’ve won a desk chair and a yard of tapestry fabric – nothing that compares to this trip.

DWR: Both fun prizes, but it’s understandable that winning a trip to Denmark is a little more exciting.

DWR: So, the big question is . . . who’s going with you?

LG: My husband. This is a longtime dream trip for us both. I’ve always wanted to visit since I grew up in a Danish community in Iowa, near Exira and Elkhorn. My maiden name is Anderson, my family heritage is pretty much all Danish, and my husband also has a good portion of Dane.

DWR: All the more fitting that you won, then. What are you most excited to see, eat and do in Denmark?

LG: First, the people and culture. I’m interested in it all from architecture, modern design, fashion, shopping Strøget and places such as the GUBI showroom. We will cruise the Canals and eat smørrebrød. My Danish grandmother made open face sandwiches with rullepølse, a sausage type meat and cheese and we loved them. We will eat pastries every day!

DWR: Pastries every day sounds incredible. Congratulations again Linda. We hope the trip is unforgettable.
