The Glass House: A taste of the Philip Johnson life.

GlassHouseIMG_9305

At this year's Summer Party at the Philip Johnson Glass House, guests were treated to a picnic, lawn games, music and wine. The attire was "summer chic," and it appears that many of the men translated that to mean, "dress like Philip Johnson." People watching aside, the setting was, of course, picture perfect. Here are some of our favorite photos from the event.

A rare look inside Philip Johnson's library (above), almost never shown on tours.

The Barcelona Couch designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1930 and still being produced today by Knoll.

The Lake Pavillion. For a sense of scale, check out the guys sitting inside. Johnson was playing with perspective here, making this 6.5-foot tall structure appear to be a grand monument in the distance when seen from the Glass House (on the hill above).

Shamelessly promoting ourselves (and heck, I think these are pretty pictures), we provided furniture for the event, including Min Tables and Tolix Marais Chairs. Not only cool looking, guests loved the cool feeling of these metal chairs on this sweltering summer day.

Thank you, dwr. I loved this article. Please feature more homes. I'd like to see homes I haven't seen, but our home is an Art Dyson organic home on the Kings River Central Cal. Our best furniture is dwr (I love our Stua chairs in the LR). http://orgatecture.org/2013/04/25/living-in-artswork-the-spirit-of-my-organic-homes-and-the-man-who-designed-them/

I have always loved the "Glass House". Such simplicity... I would love to own and live in one in a secluded area!
