One day into Spring, and Old Man Winter has kindly sent a parting gift — a dusting of snow at the DWR headquarters. Layers of shirts, scarves and sweaters abound, and right about now, we're thinking that a Uni Flame Fireplace would be a great addition to have around the office. The Uni uses clean-burning ethanol fuel, so it works indoors and outdoors, and gives off a enough heat to keep you nice and toasty.
If you think the Uni Flame looks like a fireplace from the future, check out this radiator from the Matières à chaud or "Hot Materials" collection by 5.5 Designers for SAAZS.
Wondering how it works? Actually, it's quite simple. A pane of Thermovit glass at the center of the piece transmits radiant heat, in turn heating a room by warming the objects inside of it. The Matières à chaud collection will debut at Salone Internazionale del Mobile next month.
