The summer solstice is just eight days away, and from now until September, when you stop by your local DWR Studio, you'll have the opportunity to test ride a PUBLIC bike — congratulations for recently being named as a finalist for the Dwell Modern World Awards. Started by DWR Founder Rob Forbes, San Francisco-based PUBLIC designs stylish, European inspired bicycles for urban commuters. Speaking of Rob, What is DWR-Founder Rob Forbes up to?

After your test ride, check out the Bike Shelf, an urbane solution for bicycle storage that's serving as our PUBLIC bikes display while in Studios. Designed by Chris Brigham, of San Francisco-based Knife & Saw, the Bike Shelf (also a finalist in the Dwell Modern World Awards) keeps your cycle off of the floor and adds a bit of storage space, too.
PUBLIC bikes are located at 10 DWR Studios throughout the country. For a complete list of test ride locations, visit The PUBLIC blog.
